DTC provided all engineering design and permitting services for the new Camp Niantic Readiness Center for the Connecticut Army National Guard.
The facility was designed to support law enforcement/legal support personnel, as well as Chemical Battalion personnel and vehicles.
The Readiness Center is 50,201 sq. ft. with 56,340 sq. ft. of new paving. The site for the building is located in the northwest corner of Camp Niantic. This site is characterized by steep embankments, a tidal wetland area, a heavily wooded area adjacent to a relatively level parking lot, and parade field.
DTC used a wide range of expertise to support the design project and will participate in the construction administration for the facility. Our services included survey, permitting, SPiRiT, landscape architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, fire protection and structural engineering. The geotechnical, pavement recycle evaluation, and SPiRiT energy modeling services was performed by subcontractors.
DTC prepared many permits as well as a SPiRiT gold set report, to identify items that were incorporated during the design to save energy and provided for protection of the environment.
