As the Prime Design-Build Contractor for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic (NAVFAC-MIDLANT), DTC completed the design-build task order for the new construction of ammunition bunkers at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina under a MACC with the North Carolina IPT.
The project consisted of the design and construction of (4) open bay, reinforced concrete High Explosive (HE) magazines, (2) above ground, open bay, reinforced concrete Conventional Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E) magazines, a vehicle staging lot, a Packaging Preparation area and associated site roadway, paving and drainage improvements as well as demolition of (2) existing AA&E and (2) exiting HE magazines.
The $7.6 million Ammunition Supply Point Upgrade Phase II task order was issued under a $100 million Multiple-Award Construction Contract (MACC) awarded by NAVFAC in support of U.S. Marine Corps facilities throughout North Carolina including Camp Lejeune and the Marine Corps Air Stations at New River and Cherry Point.
The project received an “Above Average” rating from the owner.
Additionally, DTC provided design-build services as the prime contractor on the construction of a single-story building for Pass and ID office and Game Wardens check-in/out near the entrance to New River Air Station. The building was constructed for high coastal wind conditions and consists of special pile foundation of concrete slab on grade with brick exterior with bullet resistant doors and glazing, standing seam metal roof, with offices, administrative area, reception area, visitor parking lot, and restrooms. Additional features include an information system for LAN, telephone, and close circuit televisions; electrical distribution, lighting and communications features; mechanical utilities including air conditioning, water distribution, and sanitary sewer piping; and site preparations including excavation, grading, payment, curbs, gutter and all incidental related work.
DTC also provided design-build services as the prime contractor on a $9.9 million contract for P-1163 Main Gate Physical Security Upgrade and P-1164 Physical Security Upgrades – Piney Green P1163 at Maine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune Jacksonville, North Carolina. P1163 Main Gate construction consists of a new Gatehouse, Visitors Center, and canopies with supporting AT/FP facilities for a major entry gate. P1164 gate construction consisted of a gatehouse, canopy, and commercial inspection enclosure with supporting AT/FP facilities for a truck inspection gate. The gatehouse and visitors center was constructed of Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) construction with brick veneer and standing seam metal roof with ballistic windows and doors for AT/FP requirements. The canopies were designed as steel frame construction with brick veneer on columns and standing seam metal roof. Supporting Facilities include active and passive barrier systems to comply with current AT/FP standards for security gates, relocation of detection equipment tower, and an emergency generator.
