Pawtuxet River Trail
Pawtuxet, RI
The first phase of work involves providing landscape architectural design for the Parcel 1 site on Main Street in Hope village known as Main Street Park. The focal point of the design for Main Street Park provides a 28-foot diameter wooden gazebo for concerts and public events. A walled overlook in the southeast corner of the site provides views to the Pawtuxet River below. Access to the park is via two entrances at Main Street with a circular walkway providing pedestrians with access to a central open lawn, the gazebo, and the overlook. Plant material reinforces the sense of enclosure with Kwanzan Cherry trees, Meidland roses, Viburnums, Cotoneaster, Andromeda and Summersweet providing seasonal interest and color. Site lighting, trash receptacles and a flagpole complete the park's site furnishings. This park is the important first phase of design and construction work being done for Hope Associates, Inc., a local non-profit organization based in Scituate, Rhode Island. DTC will be providing future phases for work to complete a one-mile pedestrian trail and 1000-foot long pedestrian bridge along the historic Hope Spur railroad line that will connect to this Main Street Park site.
