Bedford Middle School
Westport, CT
DTC provided the site engineering services for the construction of the new Bedford Middle School on a 100-acre campus that accommodates 1,200 students. It is located off of North Avenue and north of the existing Staples High School in Westport, CT. The project included two separate traffic loops for passenger and bus drop off, and separate parking lots for staff members and visitors.
The project included an extensive recreation development area including full-sized baseball and soccer fields, two multi-purpose fields, and a football practice field. The design also included a walking trail throughout the site for recreational activities and to provide handicapped accessibility to the athletic facilities. The storm drainage system included the design of two detention basins, which were regulated by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).
