DTC has provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for research laboratory renovation projects at Columbia University Medical School. Laboratory types include: wet labs, tissue culture rooms, fume hoods, and support areas and provided MEP design for Phase I & II laboratory modules for the Eye Institute’s research primarily related to finding cures for eye disease.
HVAC design tasks included control of relative pressurization in such spaces as biohazard and tissue culture laboratories with location and types of supply air diffusers designed to minimize turbulence at fume hoods. Our electrical designs took into consideration present and future research requirements and have an emphasis on systems adaptability and flexibility while providing "clean" power for sensitive equipment. Plumbing engineering reflects the special material requirements of Acid Waste systems and reverse osmosis and de-ionized water systems while fire protection design incorporated cutting-edge technology in alarm systems and measures to combat various classes of fire.
