Ralph Walker Rink, New Haven, CT- MEP design project by DTC

Project Overview

Through an on-call engineering contract with the City of New Haven, DTC was selected to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering and environmental services for the Ralph Walker Ice Rink.

The MEP design services included the replacement of the main electrical service equipment as well as the replacement and consolidation of other electrical panels in the equipment room. DTC specified the electric unit heaters to prevent freezing. The scope of work included the design of new lighting equipment room. DTC also provided the design of an emergency ventilation exhaust fan through the mechanical room ceiling. DTC designed an air inlet louver with a damper through the exterior wall with a fan on a switch. The switch contained a break-glass alcove which was located at each entrance to the room. DTC also designed a new sanitary floor drain and an emergency shower/eyewash in the alcove that the new wall created.

The scope of work included the pre-renovation level asbestos survey and testing, universal waste survey, environmental assessment, preparation of technical plans and specifications. Bid assistance and oversight/abatement monitoring, as well as post-abatement clearance testing, were included in the project as well.

Warming Hut

DTC is providing mechanical, electrical and fire protection engineering services for the renovation of the existing warming hut building and the design of a new locker room facility at the Walker Ice Rink. The renovation is 3,600 sq. ft and the new addition is also 3,600 sq. ft.
