Project Overview

The Connecticut Department of Construction Services selected DTC as part of the design team with architects, the S/L/A/M Collaborative, for this complete renovation and addition project.

The total planned area of the building renovation is approximately 130,000 sq. ft.; the total planned area of the new building construction is approximately 60,000 sq. ft.

The project included reprogramming and renovation of the school for 864 students, including academic, vocational and administrative areas. The building additions included a 1,600 person gymnasium, media center, and academic classroom wing.

There are five complex phases of construction that will be done over three years to allow for the school to be operational throughout.

The project was designed to be  equivalent to LEED Silver.

DTC provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing design services for the additions and renovation. Antiquated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are in design and will be replaced in both the existing facility and the additions.

The project qualified for energy rebates for high efficiency lighting and VFD motons.

DTC provided complete site/civil engineering services including: parking, pedestrian and vehicular separation and circulation. The project also involved fire alarm system design.

Additionally, DTC performed construction administration and the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment for the project.
