The City of Hartford and Centerplan Development are currently partnered to create a $360M+ development in the area of Hartford referred to as Downtown North (DoNo). The centerpiece to this development is a new baseball stadium to be named Dunkin Donuts Park, which will house the “AA” minor league baseball team nicknamed the Yard Goats. DTC’s scope of work for the project includes plumbing, fire protection and select areas of civil engineering.

The new Eastern League Class “AA” ballpark for the relocated New Britain Rock Cats will be complete for the 2016 baseball season. Located at the intersection of Main and Trumbull in a currently stagnant section of the city, Dunkin Donuts Park will serve as an anchor tenant and catalyst for $360,000,000 of proposed new development that will include housing, retail, and commercial uses. The ballpark design effort is a focus on innovative solutions appropriate for an expanding urban core. Dunkin Donuts Park will seat 6,500 for games and 9,000 available for concert events.

Plumbing systems for Dunkin Donuts Park include numerous kitchens and concessions, ultra-low flow fixtures and waterless urinals. High efficiency, condensing type gas-fired water heaters which qualified for rebates. Temperature maintenance cable to maintain hot water at all times. Stadium bowl drainage throughout. The building is fully sprinklered with standpipes in the stairwells, wet systems in heated areas and dry systems in unheated, seasonal areas.

The project is completely designed in REVIT which is a building information modeling software for architects, and engineers. It allows users to design a building and its components in 3D and access building information from the building model’s database.

Additionally, DTC is spearheading coordination with the MDC infrastructure development for the entire $3 million development, working directly with Centerplan Development Co.
