Project Overview

DTC was selected to perform design and construction management services for the Connecticut Department of Housing in an effort to rehabilitate homes that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

The project aims to repair, reconstruct or mitigate damaged homes in Fairfield, New Haven, New London and Middlesex counties, as well as in the Mashantucket-Pequot Reservation.

According to the DOH, 80% of all work will be dedicated to Fairfield and New Haven counties.

Work will include:

  • Evaluating damaged property,
  • Providing environmental reviews,
  • Preparing plans, specifications and job cost estimates, and
  • Administering construction oversight.

Hurricane Sandy struck the East Coast in October 2012, causing an estimated $68 billion of damage.

DTC previously provided reconstruction services in Key West, Florida after Hurricane Wilma and in Galveston, Texas after Hurricane Ike.

The $30 million program is being funded by the Community Development Block Grant under the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Disaster Recovery grant program for Hurricane Sandy.

The official title of this project is the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Architectural, Engineering & Construction Management Services Owner-Occupied Single Family & Small Multifamily Housing Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Mitigation Program.
