DTC Selected for Two Transportation Contracts

Diversified Technology Consultants (DTC) of North Haven, Connecticut announced recently that it has won two transportation contracts, one in Connecticut and one in Massachusetts. In Connecticut, the City of Stamford selected DTC to make improvements to Myrtle Avenue between Elm Street and East Main Street as an extension of its Urban Transitory Project. This project involves a wide range of services including topographic and boundary survey, preliminary engineering study and design, traffic study and a geotechnical investigation. The traffic study by team partner HDR will determine optimum lane arrangement and signalization and a geotechnical investigation will determine subsurface conditions and parameters for the design of the roadway pavement, utility structures and potential retaining walls. Once completed, these improvements will be designed to alleviate congestion in and around the rail station by creating a four-lane roadway; using High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes with bus priority during peak hours of operation; turning lanes at intersections to accommodate the current and future traffic demands; bicycle lanes along the entire corridor; as well as drainage, sewer and underground utility relocation and installation.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) chose DTC to evaluate 81 bridges, in-depth inspection and load rating analysis of Authority-owned Highway, Transit and Commuter Rail Bridges. The inspection reports and Bridge Rating Reports generated will enable the MBTA to plan the restoration, renovation or replacement of these bridges, some of which are over 100 years old. This project is partially funded by the Federal Transportation Authority's New Starts Program, which funds any fixed guideway system utilizing and occupying a separate right-of-way, or rail line, for the exclusive use of mass transportation and other high occupancy vehicles. This includes rapid rail, light rail, commuter rail, automated guideway transit, people movers, and exclusive facilities for buses (such as bus rapid transit) and other high occupancy vehicles.

DTC is a full-service engineering company with offices in North Haven, Stamford and New London, CT as well as Andover, Massachusetts.
