DTC was retained by the Town of Plainfield to provide Structural, Environmental, Civil/Site, and MEP engineering services, including the design of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems, as well as Landscape Architecture services.
With an emphasis on safety and the desire to create an aesthetically pleasing green space, DTC's layout of the new facility included separate bus and parent drop off areas and incorporates and benefits from a planting schedule that includes low maintenance shade trees, evergreen trees, ornamental trees and shrubs. A variety of species of plants were used so to provide for year round interest. The preservation of existing mature trees around the annex of the building was also a priority.
New athletic facilities for the school were carefully situated around the 87-acre site to encompass a eight-lane synthetic track around a regulation football field, one football practice field, a game field for soccer and one practice field, one softball game field and one practice field, one baseball game field and one practice field, and four tennis courts. Grandstands for 1,250 spectators and lights were added around the football field. In addition to the football field, other game fields scheduled for lighting include baseball, softball and the tennis courts. An amphitheater large enough to accommodate commencement exercises, yet intimate enough for smaller gatherings, was created in the school courtyard. |
