photo_projects_pfizerFor more than six years, DTC has been working with Pfizer to design and develop a series of projects that are intended to enhance redevelopment at its 24-acre Groton Plant Campus. DTC is dedicated to creating a "green industrial landscape" utilizing and integrating innovative site greening techniques into all of Pfizer's Groton redevelopment projects. Our team-based concept for design has aided in smooth coordination between the various entities both within the Pfizer family as well as between the public and other private firms involved with the design and construction operations of the various projects.

photo_projects_rockyhillDTC has been retained by the Town to provide design services for a fast-track multi-phased, multi-faceted project. For the first phase, DTC developed the design documents, prepared & submitted applicable permits and advertised for bidding within less than 30 days.

The $3.2 million project, one of the more sizable and unique on the municipal level, includes the reconstruction of multiple athletic fields encompassing drainage, irrigation systems, athletic fields including topsoil analysis and rejuvenation, spectator and press viewing improvements and utility upgrades. Subsequent phases of work include the planning and design for improvement at Ferry Park on the Connecticut River, the home to the oldest continuous running ferry in the United States. Public access, permitting, safety and shoreline stabilization are critical issues to be addressed.

photo_projects_sherwoodDTC provided survey, environmental, landscape architecture, site design and construction administration services for improvements to this 234-acre State beach park. The project includes redesign of the entry control complex to accommodate an increase from two to four ticket booths, the siting of a new prototypical aerobic composting, restroom facility and related entry roadway widening to accommodate peak-demand traffic volumes. Additional pavement will also provide dedicated lanes for safe movement of vehicular traffic, with a new bicycle path leading to the main pavilion.

photo_projects_plainfieldDTC was retained to provide civil engineering design services for the construction of a new dormitory project. The project was a design/build project with Stone Building Company and Herb S. Newman & Partners, P.C. This 425-bed apartment-style residence hall accommodates five students per suite (usually reserved for upper-class students). Each unit contains three furnished bedrooms, two bathrooms, a furnished living and dining area, and a full-sized kitchen. Each apartment also has a balcony.

In addition, there are two-story floor lounges spaced intermittently throughout the building, laundry facilities, and a conference/meeting room, which can be reserved for special occasions. These apartments are cable ready, and have phone service provided. The design elements included a 280-car parking lot with associated storm drainage improvements and an on-site stormwater detention system to prevent downstream flooding impacts. Other utility work included domestic water service, fire protection, electrical distribution and sanitary sewers. The unique site required the use of 1.5:1 rip-rap slopes (approximately 30º angle) to allow the site development.

photo_projects_fairfieldDTC was as part of a team led by Perkins Eastman Architects to provide land survey, landscape architecture and civil engineering services for the renovation of Fairfield High School in Fairfield, CT.

DTC civil engineering staff prepared an environmentally friendly site plan for this project. Site improvements included a separate parent drop-off area, 550-space parking lot, state-of-the-art sports complex, updating to the storm water management system, as well as the addition of a bio-remediation swale positioned near the wetlands to prevent contamination into the wetlands.

The sports complex site plan included a new synthetic-turf football/soccer field with surrounding resilient surface track, handicap accessible grandstand seating for 1245 and modular press box with wheel-chair lift. The tennis courts and practice soccer field were reconditioned and the football practice field re-graded.

DTC’s survey group performed aerial topographic mapping, dependant resurveying, site utility location, and site utility mark-out services.
